Overview
The Department of Botany was established right from the inception of the college in 1988 offering only Botany subject to F.Y and S.Y. BSc. However, from the academic year 2021 to 2022, the College got the affiliation for the T.Y. BSc in Botany (Honours). We have total of nine faculty members in the Department of Botany. Previously, students from this college after S.Y.BSc has taken admission to go to different colleges to pursue BSc in Botany followed by M. Sc. in Botany and other fields in Goa University. Department has been very keen in organizing the certificate courses covering the area like Gardening, organic farming, Ecology, bioprospecting, documentation and conservation.
Teaching Learning
Faculty members of Botany have adapted to various Teaching Learning methods wherein teachers conduct Flipped learning, group discussion, chalk board method, powerpoint presentation over smart board, Educational videos, Various education field visit and also demonstration of practical concept beyond the syllabus.
Capacity Building
The department strives towards creating a student friendly environment where they are given ample opportunities to discover their potential and overall growth. The department strongly lay emphasis on learning by doing such as project based learning, field excursions, campus surveys and class experiments where the students are actively involved in the teaching learning process. Faculty members of the department make use of ICT tools to engross students in active learning. The use of Geo-spatial softwares, Computer Cartography and Mobile Apps has encouraged students to expand their knowledge in research. The faculty members actively participate in various activities like workshops, webinars, and National and International conferences and organize an interclass geography event which receives mass participation.

On Completion of Botany (BSc) Programme the Learner will be able to
- Identify various plant groups and inculcate strong fundamentals on modern and classical aspects of Botany.
