Mathematics (DSC) DSC IA : Calculus and Numerical Methods 1)     Understand the basic properties of real numbers, modulus, concepts of boundedness, sequences & its convergence.

2)     Analyse and prove properties like limit, continuity, differentiability, mean value theorems, higher order derivatives, indeterminate forms.

3)     Apply numerical techniques of interpolation, extrapolation, and determination of roots of transcendental equations with accuracy and Use of Python programming for these techniques.

4)     Enhance problem solving skills/ ability  to  establishing limits using  definition

 

Mathematics (GE) GE01:Probability and Statistics

 

1)     Interpret a given statistical data using basic statistical tools.

2)     Demonstrate an ability to solve a range of problems using the techniques covered.

3)     Select an appropriate test while testing a given statistical hypothesis and solve problems on it.

3)     Students will be able to solve system of linear equations and will be able to construct orthogonal basis from a given basis for a finite dimensional vector spaces.

Mathematics (DSC) DSC 1C :  Differential Equations and Discrete Mathematics 1)     Design/model a simple real-life situation in form of a differential equation and demonstrate an intuitive and computational understanding of differential equations.

2)     Select an appropriate technique of solving linear differential equations of first and second order with constant coefficients.

3)     Explain some basic definitions in Graph theory and give examples thereof.

4)     Determine shortest path/ minimum spanning tree using the standard algorithms and solve problems on graph.

2)     Distinguish between point wise & uniform convergence of sequence & series of Functions and prove theorem based on convergence.

3)     Construct formulation of real life problems as a mathematical model & determine their solutions using graphical & technical methods.

4)     Analyse practically transportation, Assignment problems, queuing & inventory models & techniques of finding optimal solutions.
