About the Red Ribbon Club
The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a voluntary on-campus initiative supported by
the Goa State AIDS Control Society (Goa SACS). The Club aims to equip
students with correct information on HIV/AIDS prevention, care, support and
treatment. It also seeks to build students as peer educators, promote
positive health behaviour and encourage voluntary blood donation among
youth.
Aim
The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) aims to harness the potential of youth by equipping
them with correct information on HIV/AIDS prevention, care, support and
treatment. The Club also aims to build students as peer educators to promote
positive health behaviour in an enabling environment and to encourage
voluntary blood donation among youth.
Objectives
- To reduce new HIV infections among youth through awareness and education.
- To reduce stigma and discrimination against persons living with HIV/AIDS.
- To develop leadership, communication and peer education skills among students.
- To promote voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation among youth.
Annual Activity Plan (2026–27)
- Formation of the Red Ribbon Club Advisory Committee.
- Orientation programme on HIV/AIDS, STI/RTI and TB awareness.
- Observation of World AIDS Day (1 December).
- Student competitions on HIV/AIDS awareness.
- Awareness programmes and other activities as approved by Goa SACS.
