From Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sanquelim, Goa. I am immensely pleased to welcome you all to our college website. Established in 1988, this was the first Government College of General Education in Goa, which prospered under the visionary leadership of Dr. B. A. Gomes (Founder Principal). Through the years, the college has contributed immensely towards higher education and in grooming some of the best graduates in the country. Our alumni are well-established across the country and the globe.
I have recently taken charge as the Principal (Officiating) of this College and it is an honour for me to be at the helm of affairs in North Goa’s premier institution. This institution promotes the growth of education in Pure Sciences, Languages, Humanities and Commerce while ardently encouraging students’ participation in Sports, Curricular and Co-curricular activities. At present, the College offers undergraduate Degree Programmes in Arts, Science & Commerce, having 18 departments across these three faculties. Postgraduate courses are available in four departments viz. Mathematics, Economics, Hindi and English. Apart from these, there are two Research Centres in Hindi and Economics, and one Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Statistics (PGDA) being offered in Economics. An added feather is the recent construction of a state-of-the-art Girls’ Hostel in the college campus which aims to encourage and support women’s higher educational dreams, removing the barrier of distance in attaining quality education.
A paradigm shift has taken place in the higher education sector from the academic year 2023-24 with the introduction of NEP 2020. We, therefore, need to restructure and redesign the teaching-learning process so that we can integrate academic expertise with skills, creativity, values and leadership qualities.
I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to Dr. Pramod Sawant, our Hon’ble Chief Minister and Education Minister, for his continued support to this institution of higher learning in his constituency.
I am happy to take up this new assignment and will strive to play a pivotal role in the lives of the students and staff of Government College, Sanquelim, and will extend my complete support and assistance to all those associated with Higher Education. I will, undoubtedly, give my best to take this institution to greater heights of success. I am delighted to welcome you onboard in this journey towards excellence in the field of higher education.
